Going through security can be stressful—the never-ending queues, getting your liquids, electronics, and other stuff out. Here are some tips to help you speed up the process:

Prepare in advance

girl at the airport

Give yourself plenty of time before your flight, especially during peak travel times. This will help ensure you have a buffer in case there are long lines at security. We usually recommend being at the airport 2–3 hours earlier.
Since Tryp.com offers you free check-in, you can skip the airline counter for check-in unless you need to drop your checked bag, or you need to show your visa and other travel documents. That’s why it is important to stay organized. Keep your travel documents, ID, boarding pass, and any necessary paperwork easily accessible.

Experience it. Don't just look.

2. Going through security

Now that you have everything sorted, let us give you some tips on how to make your security process seamless.

Pack smart

Be aware of the *TSA's/airline rules and regulations regarding what you can and cannot bring in your carry-on luggage. Avoid packing prohibited items to prevent delays at security checkpoints. Place liquids, gels, and aerosols in a quart-sized resealable plastic bag (usually available at the airport). Remember that containers must be 100 ml or less, and combined they must not exceed 1 liter.

Wear easy-to-remove shoes

Wear shoes that can be easily slipped on and off, as you'll be required to remove them during the security screening process. This can save you time and avoid the hassle of lacing and unlacing your shoes.

Be prepared to remove electronics

You'll typically need to remove laptops, tablets, and large electronic devices from your carry-on bag and place them in a separate bin for screening. Have these items easily accessible, so you can quickly place them in the bin.

Empty your pockets

Before reaching the security checkpoint, empty your pockets of items such as keys, wallets, and loose change. Place these items in your carry-on bag to avoid having to place them in a bin separately.

Dress appropriately

Avoid wearing clothing with excessive metal, as this can trigger additional screening. Opt for clothing with minimal metal or choose to wear a belt or jewelry that can be easily removed. Bear in mind that small clothing items like coats, jackets, scarves, and hats go in the tray.

Follow instructions

Pay attention to the instructions given by TSA agents and airport personnel. Be prepared to step aside for additional screening if requested.

Experience it. Don't just look.

Passengers with implants like pacemakers and metal prostheses must tell the staff about them before walking through the metal detector.

Bonus tip

If you travel frequently within the United States or internationally, it's worth considering enrolling TSA PreCheck or Global Entry programs: these are programs that allow you to go through a separate security line with expedited screening You'll need to complete an application and pay a fee, but the benefits can be significant.
