If you’re feeling creative and artistic you should visit:

  • La Piscine Museum - This museum is located in a former Art Deco swimming pool and showcases art and design from the 19th and 20th centuries. If you aspire to see something beautiful, La Piscine Museum should be added to the list.
  • Le Tripostal - Another place recycled into an art centre is Le Tripostal, located in a former postal sorting office and hosts rotating exhibits featuring emerging and established artists from around the world.
  • La Maison de la Photographie - Literally translated as the house of photography, this museum is dedicated to the art of photography and displays the work of both contemporary and historical photographers. It's a great spot for photography enthusiasts.

If you would like to go for a stroll outdoors you should visit:

  • Le Jardin des Géants - This hidden garden is located near the Citadel of Lille and features giant-sized sculptures and greenery. It's a peaceful and unique spot to take a stroll or have a picnic.
  • Le Parc Jean-Baptiste Lebas - This a public park covering 13 hectares so you can be in touch with nature. There is a lake with lots of birds, ducks and swans where locals and visitors often feed them. Besides you can also find a children’s playground, a skate park and a fitness trail so it is safe to say you won’t be bored here.
  • Vieux-Lille - If you fancy something more cosmopolitan, you should go to Vieux-Lille, one of the most interesting Lille neighbourhoods. It is known for its beautiful architecture, quaint cobblestone streets, and picturesque squares. You will be able to see some historical architectural styles such as Flemish, Baroque, and Art Deco in the buildings, squares, cafés, restaurants and shops.

If you’re feeling hungry:

  • Le Bistrot de Saint-So - This charming family restaurant is located in the historic Saint-So neighbourhood and serves delicious French cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients. On Sundays, you can expect a succulent brunch with surprising combinations. You will definitely have a magical gastronomic experience! Besides, at night the bistro transforms into a dancefloor!
  • La Maison Meert - If you are the kind of person that needs something sweet after a meal, you should definitely visit La Maison Meert. The thin-waffle sandwich filled with vanilla cream is the most iconic pastry and we recommend you grab a bite!

If you’re feeling you need to do some shopping:

  • Le marché de Wazemmes - There is nothing more local behaviour than going to the market and doing some groceries. Le marché de Wazemmes is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays and is a great place to pick up fresh produce and local specialities.
  • Euralille - well Euralille is not exactly a hidden gem but is for sure considered one of France’s biggest shopping centres where you can find hotels, a casino, and several restaurants. You can find it strategically located at the intersection of the high-speed railway lines linking Paris, Brussels, and London, and incorporates the Gare de Lille Europe and Gare de Lille Flandres railway stations.

These are just a few of the hidden gems in Lille. This charming city has some overlooked places that now you know how to find them.
